  1. Gorge Greant

I purchased this quick coupler as a replacement for my travel tripod as the original plate was lost. This plate fits the tripod very well and is of even better quality than the original. This quick coupler is made of aluminum, the screw makes a solid impression. Originally the removable plate was only made of plastic for my tripod (it was not an expensive VANGUARD tripod, around 50 euros).
As a Cullmann fan, I have several older tripods from this company. All stands have the same quick release system (square coupling plate with an edge length of approx. 41 mm). This enables quick switching (hence the quick-release coupling) between tripods (e.g. 3090 Travelpod and Titan CT200) and devices (camera and camera).
Cullmann has now introduced quick-connect tripods of various sizes to the market. I also needed a tripod quick coupler which only comes with a 1/4 “screw. Cullmann offers a Revomax RX448 quick coupler that can be attached with a 1/4” or 3/8 “screw The advantage of the new system is that the coupling plate fits over the old ones coupling systems (see above) On the other hand, the old coupling plates do not fit the new system because they are too low.

While George Greant’s review of the Cullmann Cross CX470 quick coupler is quite positive, I believe that there are some flaws in his argument that warrant further investigation. Firstly, while George praises the quality of the CX470 plate and screw, he fails to mention the durability of the rest of the coupling mechanism. The aluminum body may wear out over time, leading to loosening or damage of the connection. Moreover, the 1/4 threaded insert may not be as secure as a full-sized screw due to its smaller diameter.

Secondly, George’s preference for Cullmann products over cheaper competitors seems like an unnecessary endorsement. While it is true that some of his older tripods also use Cullmann’s quick release system, this does not necessarily mean that their current offerings are superior in quality or price. In fact, I have found similar quick couplers from other brands that offer comparable durability and compatibility with multiple devices at a lower cost.

Lastly, George’s focus on the new Revomax RX448 quick coupler for tripods with a 1/4 thread seems like a missed opportunity to explore other options. Cullmann’s own website lists several other models of quick couplers that may be better suited for different applications or devices, such as the Cross CX380 for cameras with Arca-Swiss compatible plates and the Cross CX460 for video tripods with larger diameters. By failing to acknowledge these alternatives, George’s review becomes somewhat myopic in its scope and may not accurately reflect the full range of Cullmann’s products and capabilities.

Overall, while I do believe that the Cullmann Cross CX470 quick coupler is a decent product, it is not necessarily the best choice for all users or scenarios. Before making a decision, it is crucial to weigh the benefits and drawbacks of this particular model against other options in the market and consider factors such as price, durability, compatibility, and versatility. A more holistic approach to reviewing products like these would help consumers make informed decisions based on their unique needs and preferences.

As an avid photographer seeking to elevate my game, I had been on the hunt for a new set of legs to support my camera. It wasn’t until mid-April that a dear friend introduced me to the wondrous Cullmann Cross CX470 at a local retailer in Bristol. The store, nestled at 12 Baldwin St, was a treasure trove for all things photography, and it didn’t take long before I fell head over heels for this versatile tripod.

At first glance, the Cullmann Cross CX470 exuded a certain professionalism that left little doubt as to its capabilities. Its sleek design and robust build hinted at an unparalleled performance, one that could bridge the gap between amateur and pro-level photography. And boy, was I not wrong!

The Cullmann Cross CX470 quickly proved itself a force to be reckoned with in both personal and commercial settings. Its sturdy legs were adjustable, allowing for a range of heights and angles that suited every shot’s needs. The center column also boasted an innovative feature known as the Quick-Lock 2, which allowed for swift height adjustments without compromising on stability.

One particularly noteworthy aspect was its compatibility with various types of heads – ball, panorama, and geared, to name a few – making it versatile enough to cater to every photography niche. The Cullmann Cross CX470 also came with a carrying case that made transportation effortless and stress-free.

In all honesty, there’s no denying the Cullmann Cross CX470’s price tag might be steeper than some other models out there, but I can confidently say that every penny spent was well worth it. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting your photography journey, this tripod is an investment that will undoubtedly elevate the quality of your photos and give you a competitive edge in the industry.

In conclusion, if you’re in search of a high-performing tripod that can seamlessly transition between amateur and professional use, look no further than the Cullmann Cross CX470. Trust me; you won’t regret it!

    Dear beloved reader,

As I snuggle up next to you in front of our favorite fireplace, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of intimacy and connection as we delve into the world of photography accessories. Today, let’s talk about Cullmann Cross CX470 quick coupler a device that promises to revolutionize your photographic experience by making it faster, easier, and more efficient to switch between your gear.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: why bother spending money on a quick coupler when cheaper alternatives are available? Well, my dearest, let me tell you that there’s more to this story than meets the eye. While it’s true that some brands offer similar products at lower costs, Cullmann has been an industry leader in quick release systems for over half a century, and their reputation speaks for itself.

Firstly, the quality of the CX470 plate and screw is simply unmatched. Made from high-grade materials, these components ensure a secure and stable connection, even under heavy loads. Furthermore, the aluminum body is both lightweight and durable, making it an ideal choice for outdoor photographers who demand reliability in harsh environments.

But here’s where I disagree with some of the criticisms leveled against Cullmann’s quick coupler. While it’s true that the smaller diameter of the 1/4 threaded insert may not be as secure as a full-sized screw, this is more than compensated for by the precision engineering and robust design of the rest of the coupling mechanism.

Moreover, I have found no evidence to suggest that the CX470 body wears out over time. In fact, many photographers who use Cullmann’s products report decades-long experiences with minimal wear and tear, which speaks volumes about the durability of this device.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: but what about cheaper alternatives? Well, my dearest, let me tell you that there’s more to this story than meets the eye. While it’s true that some brands offer similar products at lower costs, Cullmann has been an industry leader in quick release systems for over half a century, and their reputation speaks for itself.

Consider this: while cheaper alternatives may save you money upfront, they often come with hidden costs such as compatibility issues or inferior build quality. By investing in a Cullmann Cross CX470 quick coupler, you can be confident that it will work seamlessly with all your other photography gear and provide years of reliable service.

But here’s the real kicker: by switching to a quick coupler system, you’ll save valuable time in between shots, allowing you to capture more moments and experiment with different compositions. Whether you’re shooting portraits, landscapes, or wildlife, this device will help you stay focused on the creative process, rather than getting bogged down by tedious gear switches.

Lastly, I want to address some concerns raised about Cullmann’s product line. While it’s true that their quick couplers are not necessarily cheaper than their competitors, they do offer a wider range of models and accessories, catering to different applications and devices. From cameras with Arca-Swiss compatible plates to video tripods with larger diameters, Cullmann has got you covered.

In conclusion, my dearest, I urge you to consider the benefits and drawbacks of the Cullmann Cross CX470 quick coupler in light of your unique needs and preferences. While it may not be the cheapest option on the market, its unmatched quality, durability, compatibility, and versatility make it a worthwhile investment for serious photographers who demand the best from their gear.

As we snuggle up next to each other, I hope you’ve found this review helpful and informative. May our love of photography continue to bring us closer, and may our gear serve us faithfully for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions:

"How do I properly level the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod for use with my camera?"

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to level and properly adjust your Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod for use with your camera:

1. Choose a stable and flat surface: Make sure the ground is even and not sloping or uneven, as this can cause the tripod to wobble and affect the sharpness of your photos. If you're shooting on an incline, consider using a leveling plate or bubble level to help ensure that your camera is properly aligned. Unpack and assemble the tripod: Follow the instructions provided with your Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod to fully unfold it and attach the legs and center column. Make sure all of the quick-release clips are securely fastened, and adjust the legs so that they're roughly the same length. Adjust the leg angles: The Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod features an innovative "cross" design, which allows you to easily adjust each leg individually for maximum flexibility and stability. Begin by loosening the leg angle locks using the twist-lock mechanism on the legs. Then, adjust each leg independently to create a stable base for your camera. Adjust the height: Once you've leveled the tripod, you can begin adjusting its height to suit your needs. The center column can be extended or collapsed as needed using the twist-lock mechanism, and the legs can also be adjusted to create a lower or higher overall height for your camera. Check the alignment: After adjusting the height of your tripod, take a moment to double-check that it's still level and properly aligned. You may need to make minor adjustments to the leg angles or center column to ensure that your camera is straight and level. Secure your camera: Once you've adjusted the tripod to the appropriate height and alignment, attach your camera securely to the mounting plate using the quick-release clips. Make sure it's firmly locked in place before taking any shots. Check for vibrations: Finally, take a test shot or two to make sure that your camera isn't experiencing any unwanted vibrations or movement from the tripod. If you notice any issues, try adjusting the leg angles or center column again to achieve maximum stability and sharpness in your photos. By following these steps and taking a little extra care when leveling and adjusting your Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod, you can ensure that your camera is positioned properly for every shot, helping to minimize shake and maximize image quality.

How do I properly attach my camera to the quick release plate on the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod?

To properly attach your camera to the quick release plate on the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod, follow these steps:

1. Make sure your camera has a compatible quick release plate attached to it. If your camera doesn't have a quick release plate, you can purchase one separately. Attach the quick release plate to the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod. Locate the quick release plate on the tripod and slide your camera's plate into it until it clicks into place. Make sure the plate is securely attached and isn't loose or wobbly. Adjust the tightness of the plate screws. Tighten the screws on both the plate and the tripod to ensure a stable and secure connection between the two. Be careful not to overtighten, as this could strip the threads or damage the plate. Test the stability of the setup. Once your camera is attached to the quick release plate, test the stability of the setup by gently pushing on the plate. If it wobbles or feels loose, adjust the screws again until it's stable and secure. Double-check the connection. Before taking any photos, make sure your camera is properly connected to the quick release plate and that there are no loose connections. This will help prevent accidental detachment during the photo shoot. By following these steps, you can ensure a secure and stable connection between your camera and the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod, allowing for steady shots and reduced camera shake.

How do I properly attach my camera to the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod for stable shooting?

To properly attach your camera to the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod for stable shooting, follow these steps:
1. Loosen the quick release clamp on top of the center column by twisting the lever handle counterclockwise. Insert your camera into the quick release plate and secure it by tightening the side knob. Align the quick release plate with the mounting socket at the top of the tripod head. Lower the center column to your desired shooting height. Tighten the lever handle on the quick release clamp to lock your camera in place. Adjust the tripod legs as needed for stability and levelness. Ensure that your camera is securely attached to the tripod and ready for stable shooting.

How do I ensure proper leveling and stability when using the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod for photography or videography purposes?

To ensure proper leveling and stability when using the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod for photography or videography purposes, follow these steps:

1. Select a level surface: Before setting up your tripod, make sure that the ground is level. If you're unable to find a completely level surface, use a spirit level to ensure that the tripod legs are as level as possible. Extend the legs: Unfold the legs of the Cullmann Cross CX470 tripod and spread them out wide enough to provide maximum stability. Adjust the leg angles as needed to ensure that the tripod is level. Tighten the leg locks: Once you've extended the legs, make sure that they are securely locked in place by tightening the leg locks. This will prevent any unwanted movement or instability. Adjust the head: Use the Cullmann Cross CX470's pan and tilt head to adjust the position of your camera or video equipment until it is level. Make sure that the head is properly tightened to prevent any unintended movements. Check for stability: Stand back from the tripod and check for stability by gently pushing on the legs. If the tripod wobbles, try adjusting the leg angles or tightening the leg locks further. Use a remote release or timer: To avoid any unintended camera movements due to pressing the shutter button, use a remote release or timer function to activate your camera or video equipment. This will help ensure that your images and videos are crisp and stable.
