1 review for Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II

  1. Marc P

Small handy camera, well made. Feel the quality of production in Japan. Takes beautiful photos, even in auto mode. As for me, it has beautiful warm colors. 4K cameras have more faded. The only minus is the sharpening sound during the autofocus – this type has it. For the price of $ 340, there is nothing better in the compact category. I still have a Pentax DSLR camera, but I am currently playing only with stands. This zoom is very versatile and handy, and the photos are like a SLR camera. Very good price in Taplic. Service as usual efficient and without problems.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I switch my Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II from automatic to manual focus mode?

To switch your Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II from automatic to manual focus mode, follow these steps:

1. Turn on the camera and ensure that it is set to "P" (Program AE) or a more advanced shooting mode like "Tv" (Shutter-priority AE), "Av" (Aperture-priority AE), or "M" (Manual). Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to open the settings menu. Use the up and down arrows on the four-way directional pad to navigate to the "CUSTOM MENU 1" option and press the SET button. Scroll through the list of custom functions and select the one labeled "Focus mode. Select the "MF" (Manual Focus) option using the up or down arrows and then press the SET button to confirm your selection. Once you've saved the setting, exit out of the menu system by pressing the MENU button again. To switch between automatic and manual focus, turn the lens ring on the front of the camera until the focus indicator in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen changes to reflect your selected mode. In manual focus mode, you'll need to adjust the focus manually using the lens ring and preview the image to ensure that it's sharp before taking the shot. You can also use the camera's zoom function to get a closer look at your subject as needed. That's it! By following these steps, you should now be able to switch between automatic and manual focus modes on your Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II.

How do I properly set up the autofocus system on my Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera for capturing moving subjects?

To properly set up the autofocus system on your Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera for capturing moving subjects, follow these steps:

1. Switch the camera to AI Servo (continuous AF) mode by pressing the AF mode button on the back of the camera and selecting AI Servo using the arrow keys on the rear LCD screen. Set the camera's focus point. You can do this by pressing the AF point selection button (located next to the viewfinder) and then using the arrow keys on the rear LCD screen to select the desired focus point. For moving subjects, it's best to use a focus point in the center of the frame or near the subject's predicted path of movement. Enable face detection by pressing the menu button and selecting "Face Detection" in the Shooting Menu. This will allow the camera to prioritize faces when focusing on moving subjects, making it easier to capture sharp portraits even if they're moving around. Set the camera's burst rate. To do this, press the menu button and select "Shooting" in the main menu. Then, scroll down to "High-speed Continuous Shooting" and choose the desired frame rate (up to 8 frames per second on the G7 X Mark II). Finally, make sure that the camera's image stabilization is turned on (either by pressing the dedicated IS button or selecting "IS" in the main menu) to help compensate for any camera shake during burst shooting or when panning with a moving subject. By following these steps, you should be able to effectively use your Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera's autofocus system to capture fast-moving subjects like athletes, pets, or kids playing.

How do I adjust the focus on my Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera?

To adjust the focus on your Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera, follow these steps:
1. Make sure that your camera is set to "Single-shot AF" mode by navigating to the camera's shooting menu (the icon with a wrench) and selecting "AF Mode. Choose the "1" option for single-shot autofocus. Press halfway down on the shutter button to activate autofocus. The camera will lock onto your subject, indicated by an AF point on the screen. If you want to change the focus point, press the AF Point Selection button (located near the left of the lens) and use the navigation pad to move the focus point to a new location. Press the button again to confirm. To zoom in for more precise focusing, hold down the AF Button (near the top right corner of the camera's back panel) and press the magnification button (located near the bottom left corner). You can then use the navigation pad to move around the image and make fine adjustments to the focus point. Press the magnification button again or release the AF Button to exit zoom mode. To refocus, simply half-press the shutter button again. The camera will lock onto a new subject if it detects motion or changes in the scene, or you can manually move the focus point to a new location as described above. If you prefer continuous autofocus, you can change your AF mode to "AI Servo" by following step 2 above and selecting that option instead of "1. This mode will allow your camera to track moving subjects as you follow them with the lens. Remember to always prioritize the focus point over the composition of your image, especially when capturing important moments like people or animals in motion.

How do I properly use the manual focus feature on my Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera for capturing sharp images?

Here are some steps that can help you use the manual focus feature on your Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera to capture sharp images:

1. Turn on your camera and switch it to Manual Focus mode by pressing the FlexiZone-Multi AF button until "MF" appears in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen. Zoom in to your desired focal length using the zoom ring on the lens barrel, or use the magnifying function by pressing the DISP button to enlarge the image in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen. This will make it easier to see and adjust focus. Use the rear control dial to manually focus the camera by turning it left or right until your subject is in sharp focus. You may need to press the shutter release button halfway to activate autofocus and then switch to manual focus using the AF-MF button. To fine-tune focus, you can use the Focus Peaking feature. This displays highlighted areas of the image that are in sharp focus, making it easier to see where your subject is in relation to the rest of the scene. Turn on this feature by pressing the Fn button and selecting "Focus Peak Highlight" from the menu. If you're shooting in low light or with a wide-aperture lens, use the camera's focus assist beam to help illuminate your subject for more accurate manual focusing. Turn on this feature by pressing the Fn button and selecting "AF Assist Beam" from the menu. Once you have achieved the desired focus, take your shot by pressing the shutter release button all the way down. Remember to always double-check your focus before taking a critical shot, especially when shooting in low light or with fast-moving subjects. By following these steps, you should be able to use the manual focus feature on your Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II camera for capturing sharp images. If you have any further questions or concerns, consult the user manual that came with your camera or reach out to Canon's customer support for additional assistance.
