1 review for Sony HDR-AS50

  1. Joey Hughes

Earlier I had a HDR-AS20 cam I switched to HDR-AS50. Unfortunately, despite the higher price, apart from the housing and the connector for the accessory system, nothing was included. In my opinion, switching on recording is worse solved than in the predecessor, which was done with one button. Now you need to turn on the camera and then negating. Having a camera on a helmet is much worse. Malfunctioning optical stabilization mode in SM mode. Now about the advantages: * better and more readable menu * zoom (3x probably digital because the quality clearly drops above 2x), * 100 fps mode * tripod holder in the camera, * the camera can be put without a housing – better designed housing, * exposure correction, * better designed underwater housing * better solved battery cover with information about the WiFi code. In general, for $ 50 more we get much more functional equipment compared to HDR-AS20. The quality of the films is comparable (does not apply to slow motion modes where the old AS20 model has a clear advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the process for transferring video footage from my Sony HDRE-AS50 camcorder to my computer or mobile device?

To transfer video footage from your Sony HDRE-AS50 camcorder to your computer, you can use a USB cable. Here are the steps:
1. Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the camcorder and the other end to your computer's USB port.
2. The camera should automatically be recognized by the computer. If not, click on "Start" then right-click on "My Computer" and select "Manage." Click on "Device Manager," locate the name of your camera under "Unknown Devices" or "Other Devices" (it might say something like "USB Camera"), right-click on it, and select "Update Driver Software." Choose to search for the software on your computer.
3. Once the device is recognized, an Autoplay dialog box may appear with options for connecting and charging devices or opening folder to view files. Select "Open folder to view files" or similar option depending on your operating system.
4. The video clips on your camcorder should now be displayed in a folder. You can copy and paste them into any folder you like on your computer.
To transfer video footage from your Sony HDRE-AS50 camcorder to your mobile device, you will need to use a different method as USB cables are not supported for connecting the camcorder directly to the mobile device. Here are some alternative methods:
1. If your mobile device has an SD card slot, you can remove the SD card from the camcorder and insert it into your mobile device. The video clips should then be accessible on the device.
2. You can use a USB card reader to transfer the video files from the camcorder's SD card to your computer, and then move the files to your mobile device using a cable or Wi-Fi connection.
3. If your mobile device supports HDMI input (such as some Samsung Galaxy devices), you can connect the camcorder to the mobile device using an HDMI cable and transfer video footage that way.

How do I properly connect my Sony HDR-AS50 to my computer using a USB cable for file transfer?

First, ensure that the camera's battery is fully charged or plugged into an AC adapter. This will provide enough power for the transfer process. Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the camera's USB port (located on the side of the device) and the other end to a USB port on your computer. If prompted, select "USB Mode" on the camera's LCD screen. This will put the camera into PC connection mode and prepare it for file transfer. Your computer should automatically recognize the connected Sony HDR-AS50 as a new external device. Windows users may need to install the necessary drivers from the Sony website if prompted. Open your preferred media management software, such as Windows Explorer or a third-party program like Adobe Bridge. Navigate to the camera's storage card (either Memory Stick PRO Duo or SD/SDHC/SDXC card) and select the files you wish to transfer. You can copy and paste them directly into a desired folder on your computer, or move the entire contents of the card for a complete backup. Once the transfer is complete, safely eject the camera from your computer by right-clicking its drive letter in Windows Explorer and selecting "Eject" (or using a similar function in your operating system). Disconnect the USB cable from both the camera and the computer, and you're done! Your Sony HDR-AS50 is now ready to capture more footage.
