1 review for Manfrotto Lykos Softbox

  1. Jerry Fisher

It is extremely easy to put on and take off, easy to store and carry.
It softens the lights even more than the supplied diffuser.
I am a little confused by the comments that it is sold separately with a diffuser in other forums. Everything ok here. The set came.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the best way to set up and use my Manfrotto Lyko Softbox for optimal lighting results in studio photography?

To get optimal lighting results with your Manfrotto Lyko Softbox, follow these steps:
1. Choose the right size softbox for your setup: The Manfrotto Lyko Softbox comes in various sizes, from 60x60cm to 150x150cm. Choose the appropriate size based on the subject and space available in your studio.
2. Position the softbox correctly: Place the softbox close to your subject to avoid harsh shadows. Ideally, it should be within 3-4 feet from the subject. The distance will depend on the size of your softbox and the effect you want to achieve.
3. Use a light source compatible with the softbox: Make sure that the light source you use is compatible with the softbox mount. Manfrotto Lyko Softboxes come with both speedring and Bowens mount options, so check which one matches your lighting gear.
4. Set up the softbox correctly: Attach the softbox to your light stand using the provided mounting bracket. Make sure it's securely fastened. The front diffuser panel should be attached to cover the inner reflective surface of the softbox.
5. Adjust the position of the subject and lights: Move the subject and lights until you achieve the desired lighting effect. You may need to experiment with different positions to get the right balance between soft, even light and dramatic shadows.
6. Use modifiers or flags for better control: Add modifiers like snoots or grids to your light sources to control the spread of light and create more dramatic effects. You can also use flags to block unwanted light and prevent flare in your shots.
7. Experiment with different softbox shapes and materials: The Manfrotto Lyko Softbox comes in different shapes, such as rectangular, octagonal, or square. Different shapes can produce unique lighting effects. Additionally, some softboxes have a silver or gold interior to create warm or cool tones in your images.
By following these steps and experimenting with various settings, you can achieve optimal lighting results using your Manfrotto Lyko Softbox for studio photography.

"How do I properly attach and detach the Manfrotto Lykos Softbox onto my lighting stand?"

Attaching the Manfrotto Lykos Softbox to your lighting stand is a quick and easy process. Here are the steps you'll need to follow:

1. Open the softbox by pulling it apart in the middle until it forms an "X" shape. Be sure to handle it carefully so as not to damage the fabric interior. Locate the Velcro strips on both the softbox and your Manfrotto lighting stand. The softbox strips will be labeled "V" and the stand strips will be labeled "R". Align the softbox with the stand, making sure that the "V" strips on the softbox match up with the "R" strips on the stand. Press the softbox firmly against the stand to secure it in place. You should hear a satisfying "snap" as the Velcro adheres. To detach the softbox, simply pull it away from the stand while holding onto the fabric interior to avoid any wrinkles or creases. Again, be sure to handle it carefully as you remove it. That's all there is to it! By following these simple steps, you should be able to attach and detach your Manfrotto Lykos Softbox with ease. If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out for more assistance.

"How do I properly attach the Manfrotto Lykos Softbox to my photography studio lighting setup?"

First, ensure that your Manfrotto Lykos Softbox is compatible with your specific photography studio lighting setup. The softbox comes in different sizes and can be used with various light sources, including LED panels, strobe lights, and studio flash heads. If you are using a studio flash head, connect the softbox to the flash head's accessory mounting point using the included adapter bracket. This will securely hold the softbox in place during use. If you are using LED panels or other continuous lighting sources, attach the softbox to your light stand using the included clamp and locking knob. Ensure that the softbox is level and centered over the subject for optimal results. Next, adjust the distance between the softbox and the subject. The recommended distance will vary based on the size of the softbox and the desired level of light output. As a general rule, a larger softbox requires more distance to avoid harsh shadows, while a smaller softbox can be used at a closer range. To control the amount of light entering the softbox, adjust the diffuser panel inside the softbox. The diffuser panel helps to spread the light evenly across the subject and reduce harsh shadows. Finally, test your lighting setup with your camera to ensure proper exposure and image quality. Adjust your camera's settings as needed to achieve the desired look and feel. By following these steps, you can easily and properly attach the Manfrotto Lykos Softbox to your photography studio lighting setup for optimal results. Remember to always prioritize safety and follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper use of the softbox and any other equipment involved in your setup.
