2 reviews for Rollei Actioncam 8S Plus

  1. Lu Braxton

Currently, the leader in sports cameras is GoPro, the Hero 7 Black, costs a whopping £ 199 – I bought a new Actioncam 8S camera from the German manufacturer Rollei for just under £ 70.
Despite the very good price, which may raise doubts about the quality – the Rollei equipment with a touch screen, 4K resolution and a remote trigger in terms of specifications makes a very good impression. So can I say – this camera is the same on a GoPro – not exactly.

Rollei Actioncam 8s – I think Full HD is better than 4K – why – let’s be honest price is price.

A look at the application settings allows you to assume that the user has only three video resolutions available, including 4K with 30 fps and Full HD with 60 frames per second. However, if we look closely at the camera menu, we find an additional 1440p at 30 frames per second – peculiar.

In my tests, after 2 weeks, the Rollei, despite the image stabilizer, shot quite nervous and shaky 4K movies, also the 1440p variant was not convincing. Full HD recordings looked better and calmer. Basically, the Rollei camera likes light, movies shot at dusk have a noticeable noise and appear very dark.

  2. The pro movie maker

For all those of us who like our movies to look like they’re shot in a studio with expensive cameras and expensive lights and fancy compositing, there are plenty of ways to do it.

The problem is that some people aren’t keen on using that kind of equipment and they don’t think it should be used that way. But how to deal with them if you have Rollei Actioncam 8S Plus ?

Here is a guide to how to get the best out of your films.

    1. Use a big, flat screen There’s nothing quite to be said for a big, flat screen. Not only is it the cheapest way to shoot a movie (it costs about $10,000 to shoot on and use for a week), but there are a number of reasons people prefer to shoot in a big, flat screen. It’s easier to concentrate, and it lets you use a wider range of lights at once. A good wide screen camera will also have a range of lenses to use and a high definition monitor that you can switch quickly from without having to turn off the movie. There’s a lot of information in the screen’s resolution. And you can easily switch between them with a single click.

    2. Make the screen really dark (or at least a little lighter at night) The reason to shoot on a flat screen is that in addition to giving you a good light picture and allowing the film, you need to make it look nice and even, especially at night. There are certain kinds of light sources that are difficult to make look even remotely natural in a dark room, so if you want to make your movies look a bit more like real life
