1 review for Joby UltraPlate 208

  1. Daniela

I recently purchased Joby UltraPlate 208 in September, and I have to say that I am quite disappointed with it. While it may seem like a great product at first glance, I found it to be quite flimsy and unstable when in use. The screws were also difficult to tighten, making it hard to get a secure grip on my camera. Unfortunately, I can only give it a rating of 2 out of 5 possible.

In comparison to Joby UltraPlate 208, I have also used the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Tripod, which I found to be much more sturdy and reliable. The aluminium material used in the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Tripod made it feel strong and secure, and the legs were easy to extend and adjust. The head was also smooth and easy to use, making it much more user-friendly than Joby UltraPlate 208.

One of the biggest issues I had with Joby UltraPlate 208 was the delivery process. I live in Jacksonville, which is not a major city, and I had a hard time finding a store that carried the product. Eventually, I had to order it online and had it shipped to my home. It took a while for it to arrive, and when it did, I was disappointed with the quality of the product. Overall, I would not recommend Joby UltraPlate 208, and would suggest looking into other tripod options such as the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Tripod.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I properly attach my Joby Ultimate Plate 208 to my camera?

To properly attach your Joby Ultimate Plate 208 to your camera, follow these steps:
1. First, make sure that your camera has a standard tripod socket.
2. Loosen the knob on the bottom of the plate and slide it onto the camera's tripod socket.
3. Tighten the knob to secure the plate to the camera.
4. If you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera, make sure that the plate is positioned so that your lens will not hit the plate when flipping out the screen or electronic viewfinder.
5. Your Joby Ultimate Plate 208 should now be securely attached to your camera and ready for use!

How do I properly attach my camera to the Joby UltraPlate 208 for use with a tripod?

Firstly, make sure that your camera has a standard 1/4"-20 thread on its base or bottom plate. This is the standard size used by most tripods and ballheads. Clean both the bottom of your camera and the UltraPlate 208 to ensure a secure connection. The plate comes with a sticky rubber pad that helps prevent slipping, so make sure it's in place. Align the center screw on the bottom of your camera with the corresponding screw on the Joby UltraPlate 208. This should ensure accurate alignment and help prevent any misalignment issues during use. Tighten the screw on the Joby UltraPlate 208 by hand, ensuring that it's secure but not overtightened. Over-tightening can cause stripping of threads or damage to the plate or camera. Check the connection by wiggling your camera slightly. If it feels stable and secure, you've attached it correctly. To attach your camera to a compatible tripod or ballhead, simply align the Joby UltraPlate 208's quick release plate with the corresponding mounting points on your tripod or ballhead. Again, make sure that everything is lined up accurately for optimal stability and performance. Finally, double-check that your camera is securely fastened to both the Joby UltraPlate 208 and the tripod or ballhead before beginning any photography sessions. This will help prevent accidents and ensure that you get the best possible results from your equipment.

How do I properly attach my camera to the Joby UltraPlate 208 for use with my tripod?

To attach your camera to the Joby UltraPlate 208, follow these steps:
1. Make sure your camera's base plate is compatible with an Arca-Swiss type of mounting system. If your camera doesn't have such a base plate, you may need to purchase one separately. Clean both the base plate on your camera and the UltraPlate 208 with a soft cloth or lens cleaning tissue to ensure a good connection. Align the UltraPlate 208 with the center markings of the Arca-Swiss compatible mounting points on your camera's base plate. Make sure it is level and securely fastened. Tighten the lock screw(s) on the UltraPlate 208 to secure the connection between the plate and your camera's base plate. Be sure not to overtighten, as this may damage the plate or the camera. Check that your camera is properly attached by gently pulling it upwards to ensure it doesn't come loose from the UltraPlate 208. Adjust the ballhead on your tripod as needed and begin taking photos!
7. When disconnecting your camera, reverse these steps carefully to avoid any damage or misalignment. By following these instructions, you can ensure a secure and stable connection between your camera and the Joby UltraPlate 208 when using it with your tripod.
