COSTA –
I am surprised by the relatively very good image quality with such a small matrix. The color reproduction is also very good. The camera actually allows you to take pictures of the Moon at a focal length of 3000 mm by hand. I obtained better results than on advertising photos on the Nikon website. For such a powerful zoom range of 24-3000, the camera is light and not too big. With the exception of the Moon, after sunset, photos with focal lengths above 2000 mm are doomed to failure (too dark lens). But a flash that has good range evidently saves the day. A little weak battery for such a camera. Also a bit modest menu.
There is RAW but no AdobeRGB color profile, only sRGB. It is also not possible to correct the color tones of the white balance. But it must also be admitted that the factory white balance works well, even in artificial light in the machine and dedicated to incandescent light, which is rare even in much more expensive cameras. The Nikon P1000 is currently the best proposition on the market as a camera for a demanding traveler, with particular emphasis on photos of animals (birds) from a distance and photos of Solar System objects (mainly the Moon and Saturn’s rings). The dimensions are compensated by the phenomenal zoom range. However, the lack of a plastic flash shoe cover, which costs a few zlotys, is a bit of a shame for Nikon. A big plus is the ability to control the basic functions of the camera with a smartphone through the Nikon SnapBridge application.
